Brodhead

Brodhead, Kentucky, nestled in Rockcastle County, owes its existence and name to Captain Charles Brodhead, an early pioneer and Revolutionary War veteran who received a land grant in the area in the late 18th century. While a formal settlement didn't coalesce immediately, the presence of Brodhead's land served as a focal point. The town's growth was greatly influenced by the arrival of the railroad in the late 19th century, transforming it into a crucial shipping point for timber, agricultural products, and livestock from the surrounding region. This period saw a boom in commercial activity and population, solidifying Brodhead's role as a local trade center.
